Eyeglass and Eye Care Programs

One of the East Baton Rouge Lions Club's primary goals is to support directly and indirectly the eyeglass programs of the State and International Lions Club. Lions Recycle for Sight

The EBR Lions Club collects more than 5000 pairs of used eyeglasses each year. These donated glasses can help many people to experience corrected vision for the first time, enabling them to read, attend school, gain employment and take care of their families. View our eyeglass drop off locations.

Louisiana Lions Cubsight Program

It is estimated that between 5 and 10 percent of all children have vision problems that can lead to permanent loss of vision if not detected and treated in time. Vision loss can subsequently lead to under achievement in school and in the workplace. The Cubsight program is designed to screen children from 1 to 5 years of age. With this screening, we can detect eye diseases before it is too late. With early detection of eye diseases, we can save a child’s sight. By taking a photo of the child’s eyes with a special camera, it can be determined if the child has amblyopia, commonly referred to as Lazy Eye, or any other eye diseases. By monitoring how the child’s eyes react to light, we are able to prevent blindness in these children with early detection and appropriate care.
